We know that group philanthropy begins with educated members who understand the needs of their community. Together, our giving circle brings an intimate knowledge about the causes that need attention in our area. This helps us make a real difference for the organizations and programs we support. Since the formation of Sisterhood For Good, we have presented grants to the following organizations:
The mission is to provide hope for children in crisis, often providing cribs, car seats, clothes, gift cards, diapers. Help foster parents with costs to drive children to daycare, court, dr. appts, school, parent visits, etc. also assist with emergency daycare costs that come up for children in care.
A grant of $3,000 will assist 3 participants in Manatee/ and Sarasota counties at $1,000 each.
This Grant will provide hygienic essentials to babies and a system of emotional support and referrals for families, thereby increasing their opportunity to succeed. It is well documented that early intervention with infants is one of the best preventatives for their failure to thrive.
$4,000 will allow Baby Basics to serve our families and take on new families.
$3 per box (diapers and wipes) x 108 families (per month) X 12 months.
Beyond The Spectrum provides specialized education and therapy to students ages 4-22 affected by autism, downs syndrome and related cognitive exceptionalities.
$2,100 = $700 of support per educational program for 3 programs.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Suncoast is on a mission to help youth thrive, by providing transformational, one-to-one relationships with caring adult mentors.
Sisterhood’s Grant will provide Emergency funds for 40 at-risk youth clients and their families at $100 each, for grocery & gas cards, electric payments, and more.
Blaze of Hope provides financial assistance to families of hospitalized children with life-threatening medical conditions, raises awareness, builds community, and enriches lives with HOPE!
This $3,000 Grant will assist 6 participants at $500 each with financial support, paid directly to the vendors, so families may focus on providing love and care for their critically ill child in the hospital.
Children’s Cancer Research Fund is a national nonprofit dedicated to ending childhood cancer. The main focus is to support the research of scientists across the country whose ideas can make the greatest impact for children fighting cancer.
This grant will provide support for a Program called “Sarasota MOMS”, which means “Momcologists Offering Meaningful Support”. This is during a time for moms with a child on active treatment for cancer, to find a connection and support with other moms experiencing similar circumstances. This will serve
20 participants @ $25 each for 5 outings.
This Community Partnership School is the hub of a community, a “safe zone” focused on student success — in school and beyond. Through committed partnerships, Children’s Home Society of Florida aims to prepare students for success in leadership, college, career and life through rigorous instruction, respectful interaction, effective discipline and community service.
SFG’s Grant will provide support for students in an underserved community where 100% receive free or reduced lunch at Manatee Elementary, a community partnership – Title 1 school. $3,600 will provide services for 10 students for an entire school year.
Easterseals of Southwest Florida – also known as Happiness House – offers the highest quality of care and services to children, youth and adults with special needs, so that they can enjoy access, opportunities and increased life choices.
The Grant will provide the opportunity for 10 students with high income NEED at $500 each can attend their Lily Preschool for one year. The preschool has a specialized curriculum for children with disabilities.
The mission of Everyday Blessings, Inc. is to provide high quality care for children and young adults in the foster care system.
Sisterhood’s Grant of $3,000 will help two youths aging-out of foster care to gain their independence by providing them with a laptop and a washer and dryer.
The Heart Gallery of Sarasota works to change children’s lives by giving a voice to our community’s forgotten children. These children are of all ages, racial and ethnic backgrounds and have varying needs.
This Special Grant will be given to a young adult who is ageing out of foster care at 18 and graduating from H.S. The funds will be used for independent living expenses, such as utilities, security deposits, car maintenance & insurance, moving costs, and educational materials. This Grant also has a match from Flanzer Trust, which doubles the good in our community.
This is a special grant underwritten by the Massaro Kozak Art Fund and presented by Angela Massaro-Fain, Sisterhood founder and member, and in memory of Mrs. Kozak, former Art Teacher at Out of Door Academy.
Manatee Sunrise Kiwanis Club is part of an international service organization founded in 1915. Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.
SFG’s Grant will provide the funding to purchase ingredients so they can package food to distribute to food pantries and other organizations such as Feeding Empty Little tummies and Our Daily Bread. $2,500 will provide 8,000 meals for the hungry in Manatee County.
Manatee Children’s Services advocates for and provides the resources, skills, and shelter to alleviate abuse through prevention and intervention for all children and their families.
The grant of $2,500 will help 7 children @ $357 average per month, per child.
An all-volunteer organization, Mothers Helping Mothers provides necessities such as clothing for entire families and baby items, including cribs, car seats, strollers, formula, breast pumps, and more, at NO COST, to families in Sarasota and Manatee.
SFG’s Grant money of $3,000 will provide 25 car seats and 30 “pack n plays” to the families. The remaining $2,000 will be used for families in crisis, to purchase medicine, and one-time rent payment.
Move Mountains provides opportunities for even the youngest of children to learn the value of giving.
This grant provides meals, snacks, treat bags and comfort items to families who have children in the home and a family member in the home battling cancer. $5,000 will help 25 participants at $200 each.
My Breast Friends 941 was formed to help patients in the area ease their fears as they go through a difficult and nerve-racking cancer experience.
Sisterhood’s $2,500 Grant will help provide groceries and gas cards for 5 cancer patients at $500 each.
Operation Warrior Resolution’s mission is to transform veterans to health and wellness by providing innovative, holistic treatments for mental health to veterans and their family members, alleviating PTSD, anxiety and other mental health related issues.
Grapevine Communications is thrilled to underwrite this Grant that will support the increased demand for ten (10) female Veterans with brain-based Cortina Method therapy sessions – resulting in stronger marriages and families.
This is a special designated Grant underwritten by Grapevine Communications Advertising Agency, its owner, and fellow Sisterhood member Allison Imre Perkowski.
Pines of Sarasota mission is to offer individuals a fulfilling life in a rehabilitation and senior care community, that satisfies their health and lifestyle needs, all with the confidence of knowing they will always be secure, well cared for and welcome.
The $5,000 Grant will assist 52 financially disadvantaged, medically fragile seniors from Sarasota and Manatee counties for a 7-day period.
This Foundation’s mission is to assist individual employees of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office who are experiencing extraordinary personal or family need.
The Grant funds of $2,500 will be used to assist one employee of the Sheriff’s Office with an unexpected, extraordinary personal or family need.
SMART empowers lives through the healing power of horses. Through therapeutic horse-related programs and activities, SMART riders and their families’ quality of life is significantly improved.
The $4,500 Grant will allow 25 children with disabilities to participate in therapeutic riding regardless of their financial hardships.
An anti-human trafficking organization, Selah Freedom’s mission is to end sex trafficking and bring freedom to the exploited, through five strong programs: Awareness, Prevention, Outreach, Residential and Consulting.
Sisterhood’s Grant of $5,000 will provide basic daily needs for the survivors of sex trafficking to 22 participants in residential safe homes.
Sisters Sowing Seeds empowers teenage girls and young women through personal development and mentoring Programs. They are committed to the development of young women and girls by providing programs that will foster positive community impact.
The $3,000 Grant will provide scholarships at $375 each for 8 participants to attend the Empowerment Retreat.
St. Joseph’s Food Panty has a simple, yet critical mission: To provide food to any individual or family in Manatee County that is in need.
The grant will provide food to any individual or family in Manatee County who is in need. $3.00 person X 1,667 people.
Stillpoint Mission provides food, clothing, diapers, hygiene items and limited financial assistance to the disadvantaged in our community.
Sisterhood’s Grant of $3,000 will purchase 17,500 diapers – nearly 40% of Stillpoint’s total needs for 2023.
Suncoast Aging Network is a group of individuals dedicated to the betterment in the lives of seniors on Florida’s Gulf Coast. The organization consists of members who represent the many different private and public services and businesses that serve the senior population in Sarasota and Manatee County.
The $4,500 Grant will provide emergency response buttons to 10 low income seniors in Sarasota and Manatee Counties.
This organization is dedicated to defeating poverty and continuing to be a beacon of hope and change through mentoring and scholarships in Manatee County.
The $4,600 Grant will be used for one High School graduate towards a 60-hour degree at Manatee Technical College. With a Match from Florida Prepaid Foundation, this will double the good in our community by proving a second student with a 60-hour degree.
For more than 40 years, this organization has been a leading provider of therapeutic services, early education, and healthy development for children in Southwest Florida. Its Programs focus on infants and children through fifth grade who are at-risk academically, socially, or economically.
Grant funding of $3,000 will support specialized counseling and comprehensive therapy for 30 children with disabilities from financially struggling families.
This Foundation connects, uplifts and provides support for grieving youth who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or guardian, through partnership programs with Comfort Zone Camp and Prospect Riding Center.
Sisterhood’s $4,400 Grant will help four (4) local youth attend a camp that helps grieving children and teens learn how to handle grief.
PAL of Manatee County brings law enforcement, kids and families together in a positive, safe environment through sports and academics.
This year’s Grant of $2,250 will allow 30 children to participate in a new Lacrosse Program.
TWIG stands for “The Way to Inspire and Give”. It is TWIG’s desire to “help children in foster care rise above the circumstances in which they find themselves today – so they can succeed tomorrow.”
SFG’s $3,000 grant will be used to purchase clothing and shoes for the TWIG boutiques for 30 children in foster care, so they can shop free of charge. Average $100 per child.
For 40 years, Tidewell Hospice has been making a profound impact on the lives of thousands of patients and families across Southwest Florida. A not-for-profit hospice, Tidewell’s mission is to provide care for all – even those without insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, or other sources of payment.
This grant from Sisterhood For Good will support the Butterfly Program which helps children process grief in healthy ways. $5,000 will help 2 children and their families.
The organization connects low-income, uninsured adult residents of Manatee County with free, quality medical care and resources. By providing a private sector solution to serving and treating the uninsured, they reduce the red tape, improve communication, and ensure that both the physician and the patient receive the support they need to complete a plan of care.
SFG’s $2,000 grant will provide Uber health rides for clients without access to reliable transportation.
80 round trips will help approximately 65 people.
CPC Mission is the prevention, intervention and treatment of child abuse. This $2,000 grant will serve 250 children with the purchase of a variety of therapy items, including art supplies and healing supplies.
This is the sixth year receiving a Grant from SFG.

The organization provides funding for the immediate and ongoing needs of children removed from abusive, neglectful homes of abandonment in Manatee, Sarasota and De Soto counties. This $3,000 grant will help remedy emergencies and provide enrichment to 20 to 30 children living in temporary housing situations such as a foster or state care in Manatee County.

Girls Inc.’s mission is to inspire girls in grades K-12 to be strong, smart and bold in three key areas: academic enrichment & support, healthy living and life skills. The $1,250 grant will assist in taking up to 5 rising seniors to explore four different college campuses on the east coast of Florida and will cover the costs of transportation, meals and hotel rooms.

The mission of Heart Gallery of Sarasota is to utilize and capture the individuality & dignity of children living in foster care and advocate for their permanency. SFG’s $1,500 grant will support one 18 year-old youth, aging-out of foster care and graduating high school by providing funds for utilities & security deposits, automobile maintenance/insurance, and educational materials.
Hope Family Services promote safety, strength and well-being for those affected by domestic violence in Manatee County. This $1,800 grant will be used to purchase fresh nutritious food and perishables to help feed the 400 residents and their children at the Emergency Safe Shelter.

Operation Warrior Resolution provide innovative, holistic treatments for mental health to veterans and their family members, alleviating PTSD, anxiety and other mental health related issues. They have launched a spouse program to offer couples retreats and brain-based healing to veteran spouse. This $2,500 grant will allow 12 veteran spouses to receive these services.

Pines’ serves residents even after they have outlived their financial resources. Over 50% of Pines residents depend on Medicaid to pay for their care. Sisterhood For Good’s $3,000 grant will assist 21 disadvantaged seniors for one week.

The organization empowers survivors of trauma to thrive through self-care and community. It provides year round support and continuing education for their helping professionals (teachers, nurses, fire fighters, police officers, mental health professionals and nonprofit workers).
This includes access to educational content focused on compassion fatigue and PTSD, helper wellness, and trauma. The $5,000 grant will assist 2,000 professionals in this program.

Resurrection House is committed to transitioning at-risk and homeless individuals to a path of self-sufficiency. Volunteers wash, dry and fold clients’ laundry so they have clean clothes for after their shower. This $3,000 grant will be used for laundry and hygiene supplies for 120 clients for 30 weeks.

SPARCC is the only state-certified center for domestic violence and sexual assault services for Sarasota County. SFG’s $2,500 grant will support school supplies through the “Back to School Program” for 25 children of residents who reside at its emergency shelter with a survivor parent.

Southeastern Guide Dogs transform lives by creating and nurturing partnerships between people and dogs. The SFG Grant of $2,000 will provide the Guide Dog program to drain a dog to help an individual with vision loss to navigate independently with a trained dog.

Their mission is to break the cycle of poverty with scholarships, mentors and hope. This $1,500 grant will serve 60 middle school students in a group setting where college success coaches, can lead students in college and career exploration. Team Tony provides free peer-to-peer support and resources to cancer fighters, caregivers and survivors so no one faces cancer alone. This $2,500 grant will support between 10-25 individuals for the Medical Assistance Program for expenses that have been incurred due to an individual’s cancer diagnosis.

Teen Court creates a second chance for young people who are at risk of having a criminal record. This $5,000 grant will provide 60 youths with anti-cyber bullying and healthy digital practices recourse to families that could otherwise not afford it.

The Blue Butterfly Program supports grieving children and teens, ages 5 to 18 after the death of a significance person in their lives. Children receive ongoing support, therapeutic interventions and peer to peer interactions, graduate the program with the ability to discuss and identify their feelings. SFG’s $3,000 grant will cover 2 children and their families for one season.

CPC clients are verified victims of physical and or sexual abuse, as well as children who are experiencing problematic sexual behaviors. CPC’s specialized treatment allows child victims to restore their development and improve their mental and physical health.

We are pleased to present them with their FIFTH grant from our organization.

The Children’s Cancer Center is dedicated to serving families of children with cancer or chronic blood disorders with emotional, financial and educational support to cope with their life-threatening illness.
This $2,520 grant will support 12 moms with a child on active treatment with cancer. The cost is $42 each for five outings per family.

Children’s Guardian Fund provides funding to meet emergency needs and enable normalcy and enrichment in the lives of children in foster and state care that have been removed from abusive and neglected homes to provide as much normalcy.
SFG’s grant of $1,500 goes directly to 10 to 15 children in Manatee and Sarasota Counties. These children have nothing – and this program will provide basics such as beds, bedding, clothing, shoes and missing essential items needed for these children.

This year’s grant of $1,589 will benefit 40 children annually. Three classes utilize a buggy several times a week. This will help purchase a new buggy to take young children with/or without disabilities for nature walks, and other outside activities.

This $1,250 grant will help ten middle-school girls attend a 2021 summer camp where they will learn building skills in woodworking and design. Girls Inc. has partnered with Nailed It! DIY Sarasota, a local female owned business, for this camp.

This $1,500 grant will help feed the residents at the Emergency Safe Shelter by buying fresh and nutritious foods and perishables. The average cost of a meal is $3.39 so this will provide 442 meals for shelter residents.

This is a SPECIAL GRANT underwritten by Grapevine Communications Advertising Agency and Allison Imre Perkowski, Grapevine’s owner and fellow Sisterhood member.
This $2,500 grant will support 175 survivors of trauma, in workshops where they will learn art therapy, yoga, self-care, journaling and more. Programs will extend from summer to winter of 2021.

The monies from this $2,000 Grant will be used to assist individual employees and their families of the Sarasota County’s Sheriff’s office who are in need. While they are out helping others in the community, their families may need assistance with travel and/or medical expenses, for example: a 20 year deputy with a critically ill spouse.

The monies from this $2,500 grant will provide training for one Guide Dog that will be given to a visually impaired individual in our local Bradenton/Sarasota community.
The Guide Dogs mission is to transform lives by creating and nurturing partnerships between dogs and people, training dogs of the highest pedigree for people who are blind, veterans, and children, providing our premier dogs and lifetime services at no cost. The $1,500 grant funds will be used to provide travel and transportation expenses to and from treatment, fund the cost of medications, testing or direct patient care. Approximately 6 to 15 individuals will benefit from this Grant, depending on the service the patient receives.

The Grant was presented by Sisterhood member Maureen Chesson
The organization introduces area juvenile offenders to activities and services that promote feelings of self-esteem and self-improvement when they develop a healthy attitude toward authority. All organizational activities instill and teach the benefits of law abiding citizenship and provide opportunities for civic engagement through a variety of programs.
This year’s $5,000 Grant will be used to offset the cost of drug tests, uniform costs and lunch for Teen Court’s camp-substance abuse program for approximately 160 youths. Teen Court is pleased to say that they have had a 94% success rate with this program.

This grant of $1,500 will benefit 15 to 30 boys from Newtown and surrounding areas from 7 to 17 years of age. Brotherhood of Men feeds 30 kids’ dinner for 10 weeks at current levels. BOM is a mentoring group that encourages young men to build positive lives.

The monies from Sisterhood’s $2,500 Grant will benefit 100 children. Most Manatee County PAL programs are free or very affordable. This new PAL Baseball Program, in addition to football, basketball and cheerleading, will help fund uniforms, bats and baseball gloves.

This grant provides essentials such as diapers to babies, and emotional support and referrals for low income working families not receiving government assistance. This grant will benefit 32 babies.
The money provides individual therapy care packages which include journals, fidget spinners, stress balls, essential oils, etc. CPC clients are verified victims of physical and or sexual abuse or children who are experiencing problematic sexual behaviors. CPC’s specialized treatment allows child victims to restore their development and improve their mental and physical health.
The money goes directly to 10 to 15 children in Manatee and Sarasota Counties that have been removed from abusive and neglected homes to provide as much normalcy. Depending on the situation and emergency needs, such as beds, bedding, clothing, shoes and missing essential items for these children.
The money will provide meals for food-deprived children in the Manatee County area. Backpacks contain 6 meals and snacks to ensure 200 homeless and at-risk children have food to eat during the weekend.
The grant will support a future Habitat Sarasota homeowner, benefiting up to 5 people in one family. They partner with the community to provide affordable housing for people in need so they may build better lives for their families.
Hope is committed to serve victims and survivors of domestic violence by offering a safe and healthy path to self-sufficiency. The money helps feed the residents at the Emergency Safe Shelter by buying fresh nutritious foods and perishables for 450+ children and women in Manatee County.
The Grant benefits 15 – 20 women by helping them heal, cope and survive the effects of cancer physically and emotionally. The program will include education about their disease, treatment options, and assistance in navigating the healthcare system, post-surgical garments, mastectomy products, wigs, yoga, and radiation skincare – all free of charge.
The money will improve the lives of those adult individuals living with and effected by epilepsy or other seizure disorders. 4 families will benefit from this grant for 10 support group meetings, and provide transportation to and from, for those who cannot drive.
The money benefits 2 participants for a 3-day youth bereavement camp and is offered free to families. The foundation is dedicated to breaking the barrier of grieving children, teens and young adults that suffer after a death of a parent, sibling or guardian. (Currently there are over 15 children on the list waiting to participate.)
The money will provide 8 underserved children and their families in Manatee County, providing expansion to the My Garden program; as well as full access to Selby Gardens Downtown and the Historic Spanish Point Campus.
875 people benefit from this grant. The money will assist individuals to live independently by providing nutrition, caring and supportive services, and the purchase of 175 food bags with 30 meals, feeding 5 family members per bag.
This program puts together monthly meals and snack bags for local children and families that are battling with illness and mainly dealing with cancer. The money will provide meals and snacks for approximately 12 people for two months.
The money received makes it possible for 150 women to purchase groceries and gas cards, pay for house cleaning and or yard care. Helping to support and ease fears during and beyond cancer diagnosis.
The funding from SFG benefits approximately 25 foster families who save the lives of more than 125 animals. These feline foster kits include cat carriers and various supplies needed to get started.
With social distancing and isolation and other mental health challenges, there has been an increase in the need for counseling and therapy support. This grant provides 3 months of on-going mental health therapy to 2 veterans and their families, helping to alleviate PTSD, anxiety and depression.
100% of funds is used to train one service dog to pair with a veteran in need. This helps reduce the loneliness and suicide rates that veterans, first responders and families go through. The adoption of a rescue dog will ultimately become a companion and give emotional support to this needed veteran.
This grant money will help to care for 21 disadvantaged seniors who have outlived their financial resources. The Pines of Sarasota cares for more seniors in this situation than any other senior care community in SW Florida with a shortfall of $7,500 annually per resident.
The money will provide all expenses for full care for one horse for 30 days. The past grants have been provided to support women veterans in their Warriors in Transition program enriching the lives through therapeutic horse related programs. Due to the covid19, shutdowns of all programs have ceased. Once back up in operations anticipate benefiting over 450 individuals.
The grant from SFG provides one guide dog user in Sarasota or Manatee County the freedom of movement and power to connect in the community. This program offers life changing independence to our clients and ensures that a member with vision loss is partnered with a dog of the finest pedigree and excellent training.
The grant assistance is for SPARCC’s Healthy Snacks & Food program for children who reside at the emergency shelter with a survivor parent of domestic and sexual violence. Approximately 50 to 55 children will benefit by this grant. Average 4 to 6 week stay per child.
The money will benefit 50 to 100 local children with cancer in the Lakewood Ranch and Sarasota area. By providing them with a better quality of life and positive group activities, they may do what children are meant to do – have fun and celebrate life.
This Grant offsets the cost of drug tests, 1-day van rental to transport youths for testing, t-shirt cost, building rental cost for camp X-RAYD substance Abuse Program. There is a 94% success rate with this program and it IS making a great impact with the youth in this community. The total number of youths this supports is 160.
The program is for children in foster care to be able to shop in a beautiful boutique for clothing and shoes, free of charge. Each month 350 children are being served. The money received makes a direct impact on approximately 25 children.
This grant provides support with resources to parents of special needs children for respite and self-care. The Restoration Respite Program operates year round. This grant would help 40 individuals @$50 per person.

The mission of ASCF is to create a safe place for children to heal from the trauma of child abuse. $3,600 would serve 6 children for 2 mos. (1 therapy session per wk). This grant will provide VIP Academy equipment and supplies for its photography club. The club provides developmentally challenged adults a creative outlet and an opportunity to earn income for photos sold. Each artist keeps 70% of the funds generated by the sale. It will benefit 34 clients and their parents.
To help feed residents at the Emergency Safe Shelter by buying fresh nutritious food & perishables. Approximately 450+ children & women will benefit from our contribution.
The organization’s aim is to provide emotional support and financial assistance to 3 Florida families of children that have suffered traumatic limb loss.
To be used for the Sack Summer Hunger program for children in Manatee County, which provides weekend meals during the 2019 10-week summer school break. Will provide 400 sacks of food to children. Sacks contain 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners + 2 snacks. The program does NOT receive funding from any governmental source (Federal, State or County). All funding for this program comes from philanthropic gifts from individuals, foundations + corporations.
A community-wide program, delivering books to recovery pods in jails, teen court, Mothers & Infants Program, foster children, trafficked women, faith-based recovery programs, after school programs + other community programs. These groups represent thousands of individuals who could benefit from Recovery Book Program. (The activity book has writing prompts, pages to journal + includes colored pencils) 156 books.
To support 5 women to participate in the Warriors in Transition Program; encourages female veterans to heal their emotional wounds + help improve their quality of life. The one-day workshops encourage them to set healthy boundaries, lead without force + relax without losing awareness. Sessions are no cost to the Veterans; runs from Oct-June.

To provide up to 10 weeks of caregiver support group facilitation through Friendship Centers’ Caregiver Resource Center (CRC). Support groups are free + bring family caregivers together for a weekly 1-1/2 hour session; education, connection, support; critical in reducing stress to help 30 family caregivers provide care for their loved one & care for themselves.

For children in foster care to shop free of charge for clothing, shoes, and accessories at a boutique solely for them. Serving 300 children every month. 10 items each per 10 children; funds will purchase underwear, socks, etc. + provide an opportunity for them to spread the word that TWIG is a resource for them.
We are dedicated to presenting a diverse and entertaining slate of high quality, volunteer driven theatrical experiences that educate, stimulate and enrich the entire community. This grant supports 10 at-risk or economically disadvantaged children, between the ages of 5 -12, to attend a 1 week mini-camp at the theatre.
Funds will benefit the Personal Safety & Community Awareness Program (PSCA) to go into schools, community organizations & youth, serving agencies to provide child abuse prevention education.
The funds will provide a healthy breakfast, lunch & snack to 30 at-risk children (birth to 5 yrs old). This makes up 50% of their weekly nutrition helping their minds to learn year round.

The grant will provide funding for up to 15 children in a Summer Program that meets emergency needs and enables normalcy while enriching the lives of children in foster and state care in Florida’s 12th Judicial Circuit.
Funds will support the Food Bank’s emergency intervention programs for infants & children. It will purchase 62 cans of infant formula for families in crisis (each can costs $17).
The funds will help 50 riders, 15-60 volunteers, 7 program horses for 6 weeks of therapeutic & recreational horseback riding to improve well-being for those with special needs.
The grant money will be used for 10 mental health counseling sessions each for youth in two families by a licensed Counselor.
Two separate families will receive ten sessions each; these sessions allow the families to communicate in an open environment where they aren’t judged and are able to hear from a professional, effective ways to parent. The Manatee County Medical Society founded We Care Manatee in 1999 to address the growing problem of providing comprehensive medical services to low-income, uninsured residents.
