Strong Women, Strong Minds for a Strong Community.
Established in May 2011 by founding donor and advisor Angela Massaro-Fain, Sisterhood For Good unites women who share common philanthropic goals. We derive our strength from the integration of the energies, talents and expertise of our diverse and dynamic members.
SFG began as a Women’s Giving Circle and Founder’s 50 member of the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund in conjunction with the Manatee Community Foundation. In 2011 SFG was required to establish an Endowment Fund with a minimum of $10,000. SFG met that obligation in 2013.
In 2018, our extensive growth in membership and fundraising allowed Sisterhood For Good (SFG) the financial independence to become a 501(c)(3) public charity. This achievement is an outstanding reflection of our dedicated, passionate members. SFG remains an all-volunteer, women-only organization dedicated to enhancing our community and cultivating the next generation of philanthropists through our strategic annual grant program. All members of the originally established donor-advised fund were voted into the public charity as standing members by the full membership in 2018.
Power in Numbers
Alone we can only do so much – and our impact grows exponentially when we stand together to make changes for the better. Funds collected by SFG are distributed through SFG’s Annual Grants Program to the organizations or programs that matter most to our members.
Who Governs Sisterhood For Good and its Public Charity?
As a 501(c)(3) public charity, SFG, Inc. governs itself through its elected Company Officers, and Board of Directors. The elected Fund Administrator receives and forwards all official communication between Sisterhood’s Company and Board, and the staff of Manatee Community Foundation (MCF). Funds collected by the original Sisterhood For Good Giving Circle are held and managed by MCF in an Endowed Fund; Funds collected by SFG, Inc. are held and managed by SFG, Inc. at a separate financial institution. No monies are held by the Fund Administrator.
What is the Financial Commitment for members of Sisterhood For Good?
Membership Dues are one of the ways SFG raises money for our Annual Grants Program. This provides women an affordable way to make a significant difference for qualified local non-profits in need. As the membership of Sisterhood For Good grows, we can achieve more of our community goals.
Annual Member Pledge: $200.00 Dues + $25.00 Organization Fee, each year for a minimum of five years. To remain a Member past the 5-year period, dues continue each calendar year. Once dues pass the five-year period the Member achieves the status of Legacy Member.
